Hearts is the first taster of the I BREAK HORSES upcoming debut album, and is far from boring. Sung all in Swedish, it oozes along as an ethereal shoegaze affair. At times sounding a complete racket, and at others possibly the most beautiful thing you’ve heard, sadly the amount of reverb drowns out songstress Maria Lindén’s stunning vocals for most of the song. The band’s influences of Jesus & Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine are painfully obvious, but this is greatly redeemed by the production producing some incredibly interesting sounds and effects. It may take a fair few listens, but it is a grower, and no matter how many times you listen to it, you’ll always hear something new to catch your attention.
